Take a Ride on One of Yorkshire’s Great Little Steam Trains
The Kirklees Light Railway is a family tourist attraction located in the beautiful foothills of the South Pennines in West Yorkshire.
At the heart of this popular attraction are Yorkshire’s Great Little Steam trains, running for three and-a-half miles on a 15-inch narrow gauge railway.
During their 25 minute journey (each way), passengers are transported through glorious countryside, deep cuttings and the longest tunnel on any 15-inch railway. Whilst enjoying the views, look out for Emley Moor Mast and spot as many farm animals as you can in the surrounding fields!
There are currently six magnificent steam locomotives to take you on your journey from Clayton West to Shelley – which ones will you meet on your visit?
You’ll find brand new children’s playgrounds at both ends of the line, a miniature railway around the duck pond, a café serving hot and cold meals, a small tea room, a gift shop, an ice cream counter and oodles of family fun.
It really is more than just a train ride.
